Where will you be working?

We are looking for a sharp and connecting tactical buyer who feels right at home within the port of Rotterdam. There's a lot going on at Chane Terminals. We are working the energy transition and improving our customer and supplier relationships. In doing so, we carry out large projects, optimise our maintenance processes and continuously improve our efficiency.

As a tactical buyer, you play an important role in this. In our growing organization, you are the connecting link between our suppliers, your own organization and the purchasing process. You ensure that internal customers are well served. With suppliers, you strive for long-term relationships that benefit both parties. And in the purchasing process, you are leading, sharp and critical, but also relationship-conscious!

The department consists of three tactical buyers, one specialized project buyer, and four operational buyers. If necessary, additional project buyers will be added temporarily. Our purchasing organisation is managed by a purchasing manager.

Representative activities

  • You will manage relationships with internal customers and suppliers, and you will make a significant contribution to our continuous improvement process;
  • You purchase goods and services efficiently and effectively, taking into account the price, total costs, quality, delivery times, delivery conditions and risks;
  • You record the agreements made in (framework) contracts and/or building contracts;
  • You ensure that suppliers comply with national and international laws, standards and safety guidelines;
  • You coordinate outsourcing and contracting;
  • You will gain a competitive purchasing advantage for Chane Terminals.


  • HBO working and thinking level, supplemented with, for example, purchasing management, NEVI 1 or 2;
  • Solid purchasing experience in large (technical) organizations;
  • You are familiar with working on the basis of category management.
  • You have relevant knowledge of purchase contracts, terms and conditions
  • You have good communication, commercial and negotiation skills, in Dutch and English.
